Q: MacBookPro: VGA works HDMI does not

I am trying to get my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012, 13'') being displayed on a LCD-Projector.

The adapter from display port and the cable are working, because my IMac and my MacBook Air do work with these and are being displayed via the projector.

Strange: The MacBook Pro is displayed with a MiniDisplay-Port to VGA-Adapter, but not in HDMI.

The LCD-Projector itself is identified properly in the monitor-preferences (see pic) But a have no "signal".

I re-installed ElCapitan and did SMC and RPAM according to Apples advice.

Do I have a hardware-problem or is there anything else I can do?

Thank you very much for your answer.

I wenn through all the advice in the document mentioned - but I still do not see any picture. It moreover does not work with any HDMI-Projector. Is it technicall possible that VGA works and HDMI does not?

Is there anything else one could do?

At this point, a good idea would be to reset the SMC controller, as that controls hardware functions like resolutions and external monitors. Please follow the steps in this article:

But as I already wrote in my first post, I already did reset the SMC-Controller.

Great, it sounds like you have done all the normal troubleshooting steps for an issue like yours. Your next would be to run the built in Apple Hardware Test:
