Q: Can you gift a used iBook to a friend without having to pay for it again?

I have several books I've bought and read that I would like to either lend or give to my daughter to read. Can I use the "gift" feature to give the book to her or is there another way to pass on my used copy to her WITHOUT setting up family share. There is absolutely no way I want to use the family share option as she has her own budget (which she constantly overspends on) for buying her own stuff and I have many purchases that I do not want to share with her.

iPhone 5c, iOS 8

All ibooks (and anything else that you've bought on your account) are permanently tied to your account, they can't be 'gifted' or transferred to another account. You could copy the book into the computer's iTunes (iBooks if an up-to-date Mac) library that she syncs her device to so that she can select and sync it to it.
