Q: Iphone 6 plus not pairing via bluetooth with macbook pro

I am just playing around with my macbook pro and my iPhone 6 plus and was trying to pair them together via bluetooth but it will say connected for a second then say not connected and my phone says it isn't supported.  Why is that?

I do have compatible computer and iPhone... btw, some people do believe in God and try to avoid swearing as the process can be frustrating. Nevertheless, whether He is involved in this process or not has nothing to do with the issue. I am just saying that if they have made this Airdrop thing then they should make sure that it works smoothly all the time. And yes, why not make it compatible over more products and not only compatible within a span of 2-3 years...

    Cheers..

Which computer and iPhone do you have?

And yes, why not make it compatible over more products and not only compatible within a span of 2-3 years...

Because certain features require certain hardware that did not exist more than 2-3 years ago.

    Hi

I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro with the latest El Capitan OS and an iPhone 6 with the latest 9.1 iOS

All I want to do is Airdrop - send video captured files from iPhone to Mac

Please tell me this is possible and how to do it?

Airdrop turned on in iPhone but Macbook can't see it

    Thank you

    C Jones

    It is not possible

Use AirDrop to send content from your Mac - Apple Support

    AirDrop system requirements

To send items to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you need a 2012 or newer Mac model with OS X Yosemite or later, excluding the Mac Pro (Mid 2012).

    Hello,

I have the same disappointment of not being able to bluetooth-connect my macbook pro to my iphone 6s.  I did read the thread, however, just want to clarify a few things.

    My macbook :

os x el capitan 10.11.3 (updated to a late 2011 model. Unfortunately since updating to el capt. the exact original date no longer appears

    Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,2

      Processor Name: Intel Core i7

      Processor Speed: 2.2 GHz

      Number of Processors: 1

      Total Number of Cores: 4

L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB

      L3 Cache: 6 MB

      Memory: 4 GB

      Boot ROM Version: MBP81.0047.B2C

      SMC Version (system): 1.69f4

      Hardware UUID: 07FABA0F-543F-5518-9E77-3468C91AB4AB

      My iphone 6s:

    9.2.1 (13D15)

    Model mkrg2lla

    Modem firmware 1.23.00

So if I understand correctly Apple has not enabled, or configured the newer iphones to "communicate/exchange" information via bluetooth any of its computers that predate 2012? Or is that just for the macbook pro?

All I would like to do is to have the calendars sync - besides the failed bluetooth attempts I've also tried syncing my calendars via direct usb connection but that has also failed. Unless, of course, I did something wrong. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have several old and new mac products, and I've had to endure similar incompatibilities within apple's product range. I think apple corp really should do a better job in honoring its older products, and by extension its client base, by at least attempting to have a better exchange flow between its products.

    Thanks for your time,

    PAGJMc

You don’t connect the iPhone to Mac computer via Bluetooth except  for tethering (using the phone cell connection for internet connection on computer).

All I would like to do is to have the calendars sync

You sync calendars via iCloud or iTunes.

-> Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes using USB - Apple Support

-> Get help using iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders - Apple Support

I have the same problem. I tried something just to see. First, i linked my iPhone 6S+ to my iPad. Then I airdropped a photo to iPad. Then I linked iPad to my macbook Air and airdropped the photo to the macbook. I can't link from phone to macbook, but I can link from phone to iPad to laptop. I have also not been able to airdrop to another friends iPhone. If this is a permanent issue with 6S then I might need to finally make the jump to Android.

I agree, Apple has a lot of work to do! They are messing themselves up.

Unlikely. IOS devices didn't pair over BT when Mr. Jobs was in charge.
