Q: can't render

Hi there,

I am still using FCP7.0.3 ...after a long time off...

Today I wanted to include a short text in the timeline, and I could not render it.

Each time I try, something happens fast, just as if it was rendering, but it is not.

I still get the red bar above the text and when I play the clip it is not showing the text but it says "unrendered"

Same thing if I try to include an effect between two sequences.

Could someone please help me ?

Thanks a lot in advance

If your are rendering by pressing Command + R, make sure you don't have another item on the timeline selected other than the clips you intend to render.

If that is not the problem, you might try trashing your FCP preferences.

Make sure you have selected the clip, transition, or text clip in the timeline that you wish to render. You can click on just a little text clip or just a transition itself. Then under Sequence select Render Both, or Render Video.

Also check to see if there is room on the disk under System Settings, Scratch Disk.

I use FCP 7 still also, the FCP Studio.
