In other words, I just want to be able to sync a SUBSET of my complete Photo Library with other devices ... "in the Cloud."

A shame I have to rely on Dropbox so much.

I want to leave ALL my photos where OS X seems to want them, in my Pictures folder in my "User" Folder. Dropbox forces me to keep DUPLICATES in a special "Dropbox" folder. So, yes, there is a kludgy way to do it.

It would be nicer if Apple would simply get their act together and allow me to SPECIFY what files I upload COPIES of into to "Cloud" and still have the originals.

    Hi,

I am surprised no one answered your question.  I have the same question.  Did you ever figure this out?  Apple seems to be all about selling cloud storage these days.  I am starting to get frustrated with Apple.

One method would be to log in to icloud.com > Photos click the Upload button and choose the ones you want to store there.
