Q: iPhone 6 keeps heating up -> parts of the screen don't work

My iPhone 6 keeps heating up which (I'm assuming) leads to parts of the screen not working. It affects the keys on the keyboard and basically the entire lower third of my phone. Then I try to press something, a letter for example, the surrounding keys would show up in what I am typing, in place of whatever I pressed. (If I were to type a "b", a space, "g" or "h" would appear, instead of a "b"). Or sometimes, when the keyboard appears, random letters would be pressed (like a sequence), without me even touching my phone. It opens random apps and presses random things in the apps that lead to undesired calls or random texts to other people.

 

It's is super annoying and every single time it gets really bad, I restart my phone. I tried to alter the accessibility settings but that didn't work either. I updated my phone in itunes on mac (which my phone said to do), and that made it worse.

 

What should I do before I break my phone in half?

    Based on your post, I see that your iPhone 6 keeps heating up and it is causing parts of the screen to not work. I rely on my iPhone daily and know how important it is to make sure the screen is working correctly. I have a few things I'd like you to try.

     

    First, use the following resource to make sure that you have a current backup of your iPhone's important data:

    Next, let's make sure that any open apps in the background are not causing this issue. Use the resource below to Force close all apps on your iPhone and then test to see if you get the same result:

    And if you still have an issue after that, please use the following article to restore your iPhone to factory settings. Once you've restored to factory settings, test the screen, and see if you get the same heating up result:

    How to Cool Down your iPhone 6

    • Turn off Bluetooth (Settings > Bluetooth)
    • Turn off Location Services (Settings > Privacy > Location Services)
    • Dont charge your device and if it is plugged into anything, unplug it.
    • Disable iCloud (Settings > iCloud)

    5 Must Know Tips to Keep the Temperature in Check

    • Check your Background Refresh settings for your Apps and turn them off.
    • Please make sure that you are using an original Apple Charger. Sometimes, a faulty charger can cause this issue.
    • With iOS 9, Spotlight Search within apps takes a lot of processing power and can lead to battery drain as well as your phone getting hot. Turn off the spotlight search setting by going to Settings >General > Spotlight Search > Turn the setting off for most of the apps and limit it to Safari, Mail and the other common Apps that you use
    • Wi-fi and Bluetooth issues have shown issues with the device getting hot. This is even common on android platforms. As an iOS user, you can reset your network settings and see if it helps your issue. In order to Reset your network, tap on Settings > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Please remember to write down your wi-fi id and password as you may have to enter it again.
    • Check your device to make sure that you do not have a run-away app. This is usually a third party app that is stuck and is consuming huge amount of storage and processing. In order to check this out, Go to Settings > General > Storage and iCloud usage and tap on Manage Storage. You should see a list of apps listed along with how mow much storage they consume. If you see any odd aspects here, choose to delete the app and reinstall it again.

    If your phone is still heating up overtime, contact Apple support. It is possible that your iPhone may be defective. If that is the case, Apple should replace it for you.

    Thank you! The temperature levels are okay now and the random letter typing stopped!

     

    However, the some buttons on the bottom still don't work.
