Q: can't record from drum machine

I bought a iConnect Mio Midi to USB cable interface to record from a Roland T-4 drum machine to Garageband.

The drum machine has only one plug for the midi (Midi out) so I connect the cable Midi In and the USB to the Mac.

When I connect, Garageband detects the Midi inputconnection, but when I hit the drums, no signal is detected. I changed on Preferences the Input Device.

What should I do? are they compatible?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

    Hello spidervic7,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important using this drum machine with GarageBand is to you!

If I understand correctly, you are unable to connect via MIDI to the drum machine with the MIDI to USB interface you're using. I would check out Roland and iConnect support and make sure you have the most up to date drivers installed on your Mac, as well as any firmware updates that may be available for the devices.

Also, you can try the “Reset MIDI Drivers button” in Audio/MIDI preferences option in Garageband.

If you're still having an issue at this point, you can use the built in Audio MIDI Setup application (located in your Utilities folder) to troubleshoot MIDI connectivity.
