Q: iMac G3 DV Indigo Summer 2000 Speakers

On my iMac G3, the right speaker makes a cracklings noise when played loud enough. I think this has to do with some foam. I'm debating on replacing them or not. If I want to disassemble the machine, do I remove 2 screws from the bottom and pull up the bottom up? Or no?

iMac, Mac OS 9.1.x, G3 Processor and OS X 10.0

A disassembly guide (online version of original service manual) is here:

    https://www.scribd.com/doc/103447/iMac-G3-Disassembly-Guide

The iFixit repair pages have no comprehensive guide & cover the same

territory for almost every action you'd need to perform, you open case.

To access the interior etc see the replies in text to questions. No pictures.

There may be a youtube video that covers these online, haven't looked.

When I owned G3 iMac, the one I had opened most was iMac G3 400DV

as it needed repairs when given to me; the power board and other bits

were bad, hard drive was bad;  it was repaired/updated & given to charity.

For the 300+ Macs I repaired & donated to charities, I had few manuals &

no internet access. Some are rather complex, with more parts to R/R. Helps

to see the actual assemblies. Not sure how first page above has the original

service manual archived; it may be possible to download it outside the page.

The original manuals were either published to paper, &/or also available

as .PDF files for use in computers; helpful to use offline in shop computer.

There may be online sources for obsolete models you may be able to locate

(via search) that would be the original service manual (one shown in 1st link)

however many of those sites have disappeared; or were shut down, etc.

    Good luck in this matter!
