Q: My Apple ID no longer good because email address has changed

OK I received two recommendations to change my Apple ID, but the problem is that my my old ID (email address) is no longer good as I have a new email address. How can I make the appropriate changes in applied.apple.com using Safari? I need a link to the proper place. If I click on "forgot my ID" it won't work because Apple may respond to a non-existent email address. Do I register as a new user? I've had my Mac desktop for 3 years.

I need to make these changes because I just purchased a iPhone 5S and supposedly the Apple ID is good for all Apple devices.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5), Using Adobe Lightroom 5.3

    Hello .

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I see you need to change the email address you use as your Apple ID. I'm happy to provide you with some direction to resolve this.

Follow the steps in this knowledge base article to change the email address that you use as your Apple ID:

    Change your Apple ID

Be sure to place close attention to these two steps:

    4. Enter the email address you want to use as your Apple ID. A verification code will be sent to your new email address.
    5. Enter the verification code from the email into the fields provided and start using your updated Apple ID.

You can also create an iCloud.com email address using your current Apple ID, if you would like:

iCloud: Set up an @icloud.com email address

    Have a great day.
