The fact that the all in one combines both the TB and the charging cable may have an impact. I doubt that 2 all in cables were bad. I have read others replacing the cable and no issues. I would give it a try. The TBD display can be repaired as the screen is held in place with magnets and the LCD is then removed by removing screws. Once inside you can see how the cable is attached and replaced.

Jul 6, 2016 1:30 AM in response to tbirdvetby mhconst,it was tested by plugging into the thunderbolt port on the back of the case. in many of the adverts l've seen they say it cannot be used this way. so I want to know what is the difference between the cables.

Replaced the cable. Now the screen doesn't work. What could it be?

there must be some differences because my laptop says it wants to upgrade the monitor
but can only be done using the main TB cable.
Interesting? someone must know what the difference is between the two types of cables my laptop does.
