Q: iPhone 6 wifi problem

In the past few weeks both mine and my wifes iPhone 6 (IOS 9.3.2) will not stay connected to wifi around the home. Once it drops out we are asked to input the password, which it already knows, and, more annoyingly, often gives a "Wrong Password" message when, in fact, it is correct.

I have reset and rebooted just about everything.

Does anybpdy share this problem or have any solid answers?

Did "reset and rebooted just about everything" also include resetting the router?

What about Wi-fi connections outside of your home?

Hi and thanks for your note

    Turned off / on router.

    Did a router reset.

    Turned off / on iPhone.

Did a forced quit on the iPhone.

    Reset network on iPhone.

Spoke to Sky (ISP) and changed to a non default channel for stronger frequency.

    No difference.

Obviously been auto reverting to 4G in absence of wi-fi so have only really noticed the issue in the past week or so and not really had reason to use away from home network, so can't be difinitive.

iMac connected via wi-fi and working well with no issues.

Current assumption IOS 9.3.2 upgrade has caused the issue, but not definitive.

    Frustrating!

Did you try to set the iPhone back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards? Set up our account details manually and test the Wi-Fi connectivity.

If you did the latest update via Wi-Fi instead of using iTunes on your Mac, this might help to be sure that the firmware has been downloaded new and completely,

    Thanks for your good input.

I haven't done a factory reset as yet so will give that a try tomorrow.

Below is a User Tip about Wi-Fi issues. You have tried many of those but just in case. Your last resort would be #8 a system restore as new, not from backup (backup could be corrupted) and finally an Apple Store if it is a hardware issue.

    1) Perform a Forced Restart:  Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Allow device to restart.

    2) Reset Network Settings:  Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.

    3) Reboot Router/Modem:  Unplug from power for 2 minutes and plug again. Update Router Firmware (check manufacturer’s support website for a newer FW). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (20 MHz recommended for the 2.4 band).

    4) Change to Google's DNS:  Settings > Wi-Fi > Click on the Network, Delete all numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or alternatively 8.8.4.4

    5) Disable device prioritization on the router if this feature is available. Also disable any VPN apps and test Wi-Fi again.

    6) Determine if other Wi-Fi devices on network are working well (other iOS devices, Macs, PCs).

    7) Try device at another Network, i.e., neighbors’, public coffee house, etc.

    8) Backup and Restore the Device using iTunes (ask for additional for details if desired).

    9) Go to an Apple Store for hardware evaluation.
