Q: iPhone Screen Flashes White When Locking/Unlocking

I've had this problem for almost half a year now. Everytime my phone screen turns on/off, it should just fade to black but it fades into white instead. In addition, when booting my phone, the Apple logo is white on a black background, but when it's almost done it quickly changes to a black logo on a white background. This is extremely frustrating and ugly, and it also seems to slow some functions down. I'm still having the issue on iOS 9.3.3 beta 4.

Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, rtainc.

It looks like you're having an issue with your iPhone screen not showing the correct color when turning it on, as well as when the screen goes to sleep. I know it's not a fun experience when you have odd issues happening on your iPhone that you can't find a resolution for, so I can understand why you would reach out for help with this.

The first thing we need to do is determine if your iPhone is experiencing a hardware or software issue. In order to do that, you would need to restore your iPhone as new. Since you're currently on iOS 9.3.3 Beta 4, this will have to be done in recovery mode. You can find the steps on how to do this in the following support article:

    About iOS beta software

Please keep in mind that restoring is going to erase everything on your iPhone and take you back to the most up-to-date public iOS version (9.3.2). Once your iPhone is restored, set it up as new before restoring any of your data back to it so that you can test out your device with nothing on it. After testing it, you can follow the steps in the support article below to restore your iPhone from a backup and get all of your data back. Test out your iPhone again after restoring from backup.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Please note, as mentioned in the "About iOS beta software" support article I linked above, when you restore from a backup it will need to be a backup made from an earlier version of iOS. With that being said, you will not be able to restore your iPhone using a backup that was created while iOS 9.3.3 Beta 4 was currently on your device.

If your iPhone is still experiencing the same issues after restoring to the public iOS version, reply back answering the following questions:

    1. Did you experience the screen issues when you tested the phone after it was restored as new, before restoring from a backup?
    2. Were you experiencing this issue prior to upgrading to iOS 9.3.3 Beta 4?

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Have an awesome day!

Hi, I didn't have a recently backup so I was forced to restore to an empty phone, however that has fixed the issue. Thank you very much for the help!
