Q: Magic Trackpad not recognized by (new) MacBook Pro

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro with Retina display, running OS X 10.11.5.  My legacy Magic Trackpad will not pair with it (other devices working OK).  I've tried a number of the approaches I have seen in support articles, to no avail.  I had a Magic Trackpad at my former employer and it worked with the MacBook Pro I was using there.  Any suggestions on getting this pairing to work, or, is this device no longer supported?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

    Hey GPP76,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities for help. Congrats on your new Mac purchase! I understand you're having some troubles connecting your Magic Trackpad to your new MacBook Pro. Not to worry! Please make sure that the trackpad is not currently connected to another device, then try the steps in the link below.

Thanks.  You were right, I think it was still linking to the old iMac.  Once I closed it down, the Trackpad was able to connect to the MacBook Pro.  Thanks again.
