Q: Apple Wireless Keyboard not connecting to my iMac when updated to El Cap

Hi,

I have owned my early 2009 25" iMac for 7 years and I have finally decided to upgrade to El Capitan. Straight after the update has completed, the keyboard is no longer working. The Bluetooth assistant appeared, said it could not find my keyboard. I replaced the batteries, turned it on and off, etc. It is the model which came with my iMac in 2009, it has no keypad, takes 3 AA batteries and has the Exposé and Dashboard keys in F3 and F4. I don't use the mouse that came with it, so I'm not sure whether the bluetooth is the problem. I looked in the bluetooth menu in settings, and itw as there, but it said not connected. I tried clicking connect and then deleting it, but my iMac cannot find it. It is in discoverable mode, and I really need help. Thanks!
