Q: I lost my Aperture App

After I've updated to OS X El Capitan, my aperture application disappeared from my launchpad and I can't find it in my app folder or anywhere else.  I need to recover even just the library as I have photos that have not been backed up yet.  I tried reinstalling aperture using my old install disk but it's telling me I cannot install on my mac book for some reason.  I had aperture 3 installed but cannot remember which version.  Pls help. Many thanks.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Back up the library with Time Machine or otherwise normally, and then either switch to Photos or click here and follow the instructions as desired.

Just in case, try using Spotlight to find the Aperture app.

Click the magnifying glass icon top right in your screen then type Apeture in the search field.

With El Capitan you need Aperture 3.6, it is the only version that will run on El Capitan. Your older version will have been removed from the Launchpad as incompatible, but will still be in the Applications folder, but crossed out.  Is Aperture in Applications?  Then check the version number below the thumbnail and the us the version, please.

The Aperture 3 versions from the installer disks cannot be updated to a version that is compatible with El Cap, because Aperture 3.6 has only been available from the AppStore.

Have you tried the link that Niel posted?  Updating to Aperture 3.6 After the Release of Photos
