Dec 24, 2013 11:24 AM in response to snozdopby unoteves,I have question, too.
would it (restoring) work on an iPad mini which is still on 6.1.3?
apparently, my father bought my son an iPad mini too and still got quite a lot of apps on it. I'm thinking of restoring it to it's factory settings but when i read this, it scared me.
I plugged this into iTunes and it then asked me to register the iPad which confused me.
I just want it to be set up as brand new so I can use my ID on it.
Please help. Thanks in advance sirs/maams.

Dec 24, 2013 11:46 AM in response to unotevesby snozdop,If you go into "Settings > iCloud > Account" do you know the password for the account shown? If so, you'll have no problems.

Dec 24, 2013 9:21 PM in response to snozdopby unoteves,When we got the iPad, i logged out the previous owner's ID. I don't know if restoring it would work but it's still on the 6.1.3 version.

Dec 25, 2013 6:05 AM in response to snozdopby unoteves,It's my ID since I logged out the previous ID saved on it. I'm sorry the conversation's getting long. :(
Good news is that i might be able to get the previous owner's ID. I'm hoping for the better.

Sep 6, 2014 3:41 PM in response to amfareedby itsmeduoard,To anyone wanting to start the what is right or wrong<>I don't care<>These are expensive devices and sometimes, it is ridiculous the extent to which this Apple's security BS gets to. So, to anyone buying devices in eBay or Amazon, finding out the previous owners forgot to remove their id and password, specially since one can not reach the previous owners afterwards, or the Auction House selling Police goods will not cooperate, I considered and decided to forget trying to find out where the previous owner was. I just Jailbreak the darn thing and worked fine. I reset it again, and did not remove the jailbreak either and worked fine. I am not advising you to do it, I a just saying what I did. Before I did though, I must have read like 60 reviews about jailbreaking, and some were negative, mostly from Apple employees and knuckled heads, and those who were positive, did ended up working done for me. Again, whatever you consider, (this) do it at your own discretion.

Jul 7, 2016 10:19 AM in response to amfareedby Luttrell,agreed....I have been trying as well, and it's the same thing....my apple id won't work cause it's still stuck in the other owners id....and I have done all the button holding, itunes using way i can and it's still wanting the other persons id,
I have restored and updated it, and it started working like it would go, but after I put in the language and country and wifi it then wants apple id that isn't mine.....I get that apple wants to be safe and stuff, but if me or anyone with this issue goes in and tries to remedy it, they will probably try and say we stole it. even if it's not been reported stolen.
So basically, waste of money, time, and energy.
if anyone figures this out tho, please let me know. thank you

No one is saying you stole anything. However, there is still nothing to figure out. The device is working as intended. There is no way around the activation lock.
