Q: My MBP charger adapter is frayed at the point where it meets the magnetic plug and at where it meets the square white block despite careful use. Is this covered under AppleCare?

My Macbook pro is not charging correctly because the charger is frayed at two points: near the magnetic clip and near the square block.

I am still under Applecare warranty. When I take it to the local Apple store (iShop in Barbados), I am told that adapters are not covered by warranty and that a repair will cost around 80 USD and a new one will cost around 130 USD.

This is preposterous.

Please advise.

Thanks
