Q: Sharing GarageBand Projects (.band) between 2 iPads via email
I really thought that they would have added the ability to share project files (.band) between iOS via email (iPads) the other day with the large GarageBand update (1/20/2016) especially since they added the ability to "send project to iCloud Drive". Ultimately what I want to do is collaborate on a project (songs with individual tracks) with another person in another city. Both want to be able to send a song to each other, edit and send back. We both have iPads. This is how far we got:
I received the .band file from my friend via email. He created song and exported it on iPad Air. I downloaded it into iCloud Drive on my iPad. You see a 17.4 MB file in there with a "?" icon. When I import the file in GarageBand on my iPad Air it says "This song was created with GarageBand for Mac and cannot be opened. Please select a song created with GarageBand for iOS". We created on iPad. A Mac was NEVER used.
I know I am not the only person trying to do this, I've seen countless people on the internet asking the same question. The best solution I received from Apple support about a year ago was "share your Apple ID with your friend" Truly unacceptable. You should be able to share a file as you would an Excel Spreadsheet on a Windos OS platform!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
