Q: Can't add new music

I have a 4th gen iPod Touch, and iTunes v11.03.42.

My iPod now will not let me add new music. It was working yesterday, and I added a few albums, but when I tried to add more, the apple bar at the top of iTunes said "preparing to update" (or something along those lines) for about 2 mins, and the music wouldn't actually be added to my iPod. On iTunes, when I look through "on this Ipod", it shows that the new songs are there, but they are written in grey instead of black, and have a grey circle next to them.

On a side note, any music that I delete off of my Ipod through Itunes hasn't actually deleted off of my iPod. I assume this problem is related to the fact that I can't add any new music.

NOTE: i did NOT change any settings or do anything between when my iPod added music, and when it stopped letting me add songs.

Also, I have 10gigs of spare space on my iPod.

Please help, I'd really love to put more music on my iPod

    Try:

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    - Unsync all music and resync

    - Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

    - Restore from backup. See:

    iOS: How to back up

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I had a similar issue for the past day on my iPhone. It didn't seem to add it to my music and wouldn't download. But after I turned my phone off and on and went back to my music, the album was there. And I could download it then. It may have been the Apple Music screen I was in that was the issue and next time I will first try go back into my music to check and attempt further.
