Q: How much storage should my new MacBook Pro take up?
Help me!
I just purchased a brand new MacBook Pro 13" with retina display.
OS X El Capitan
Version 10.11.5
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
Graphics Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB
Currently my storage shows as follows:
Other = 22.25GB
Audio = 25.34GB
Apps = 13.41GB
Photos = 5.44GB
Movies = 3.21GB
Backups = 8.5GB
This seems like the "Other" storage is taking up quite a bit of space.
I've spent TOO many hours on the phone with a Senior Apple Representative trying to fix this.
this. With their help I completely wiped the system three times so as to make it like a new computer.
I've added 25GB of iTunes music and about 450 fonts. That's it. ALL my other files are on my 2TB external hard drive. I'm extremely frustrated as I thought once I got a new computer that there wouldn't be any problems. I have the first model of the MacBook Pro that I purchased when it first came out. That hasn't given me any problems for overt two years. I purchased the new laptop so I could get the newest operating system, etc.
I guess I call Apple AGAIN tomorrow.
I live in a small town on a small island in the middle of the pacific and there is only one authorized Apple dealer here. No Genius Bar or any help like that. Hilo, Hawaii, 96720.
Any help, suggestions, information on this?
Should I go back to my old computer? Is this normal for the "Other" storage to take up this much space?
Can't go surfing. On the phone with Apple. All the time.
