Q: USB Music not playing in car after IOS8

Finally!! I was having the same issue with no music through USB when I got the iPhone 6 -- here is what fixed it:  I just had to add music to the Music app!   The problem was probably created because when I updated my phone from iCloud no music was installed.  Since I only use Spotify I didn't care.  I noticed my Sony XPLOD receiver would switch to "USB NO DEV" after showing "iPOD" for a brief moment.  Once I added a song to the Music app -- which my receiver probably thinks is an iPod -- I could play music from Spotify.

I discovered my iPhone 6 Plus won't play audio through my 2012 Civic's USB connection while BT does work.  Doesn't work with Pandora or with the music stored locally on the phone playing with the Music app.

I haven't read every posting in here, could it be possible that there is a conflict in iOS 8 between the USB connection and the bluetooth connection?  My phone connects to bluetooth automatically and that works as it always did.  What if we unpair the phone from the car and then just use the bluetooth?  Has anyone tried this?

Just recently bought a 2015 Kia Sorento. I believe its on the phone. The music will not stream over bluetooth, only phone calls, and the USB only recognizes the phone for a brief second and then kicks it off. Please fix this!

Well, I don't know what I did, but it's working now.  Whatever is going on doesn't seem to be the fault of the phone... OR the car.  At least not in my case.

I was having the same issue with my iPhone six. Only difference was it would play in my 2013 Ultima and would not play in my 2015 Infiniti. I added music to the music app and then it would work in both cars.  My daughter has an iPhone six as well. Hers was working fine in her 2012 Nissan Altima. she purchased a 2015 Chevrolet traverse and it would no longer work. I told her to add music to the music app and she did and it instantly began working. My only thought is on the newer cars at least 2015 you must have songs in your music app or it will not work. On older cars such as are my 2013 it worked without songs in the music app.hopefully Apple will address this in a future upgrade.

Between my Itunes no longer updating, making me uninstall and reinstall whenever there is an upgrade - losing all of my albums I downloaded from my CD collection and these random albums getting hidden constantly - and now I can't even connect my Iphone 6 to my car stereo. I've decide to quite buying anymore music/videos from Itunes and go back to buying CDs until they either fix these issues once and for all or I move on to a different smart phone and ditch Itunes once and for all.
