Jul 9, 2016 10:53 AM in response to Vista131by lllaass,What specific model MacBook?
How to identify MacBook models - Apple Support
What processor is installed? Click on the Apple icon in upper left and then About This Mac.
You may not be able to go to El Capitan and thus you may not be able to easily update your OSX version. Apple stopped sell the upgrade disks for 10.6.X and the Lion upgrade code is not longer available for sale by Apple.
10.5.8 is the OSX version and that version is 10 years old or so.

Jul 9, 2016 11:38 AM in response to Vista131by Grant Bennet-Alder,The MacBook 4,1 is limited to 10.7.5 as the latest Mac OS it can run, and to 6GB RAM as the most it can possibly use, according to this authoritative reference site:
That Mac is limited by its older firmware, and by its very unusual (by today's standards) Integated Graphics. But if you were running 10.6 or later, you could run a much more recent version of mozilla Firefox, which does not require as much Mac OS support.
You will not be able to run Safari 9 on that Mac under any circumstances.

Jul 9, 2016 4:32 PM in response to Vista131by Grant Bennet-Alder,So if I went to an apple store will they be able to upgrade me on any other browser?
Not one new enough for a current version of Safari. That would require at least 10.9 Mavericks, which is not available for your computer.
But if you get them to upgrade you to 10.6.8, then you could use mozilla Firefox.
