Q: How do I subscribe to photo albums from someone else's iCloud Photo Library?

Greetings,

I'd like for family members to be able to see photos that I upload to my iCloud Photo Library. Is that possible, if their phones are not on my account? In other words, is there a way for them to subscribe to those photo libraries, so that when I upload them to iCloud, they automatically have those photos synced to their phone?

Thanks,

John

You need to set up Family Sharing: Family Sharing - Apple Support. You can then each have private photo albums, and also have a shared family album.

Thanks! Does Family Sharing have anything to do with sharing data plans or internet passwords or history? Or is that unrelated?

It has nothing to do with shared data plans; you need to talk to your carrier about that. Family Sharing is described in the link I provided. You can share purchased music and apps, photos, and have a shared calendar (and private calendars). If you subscribe to Apple Music all family members can use it for one subscription fee. You can also share locations, so you can all see where the others in the family share are at the moment. And you have the option of controlling iTunes and in-app purchases from a master account. Read the whole article; there's a lot of good information in it.
