Q: recent iTune updates downloaded but do not install
I have a desktop iMac, running OS X El Capitan version 10.11.5. My problem is with the Mac App Store. There were two recent updates for iTunes. The iTunes update 12.4 was downloaded at least 5X, and the update 12.4.1 at least 6X. Though each download is listed in the "Updates Installed in the last 30 Days" category, none have installed. My "About iTunes" info still lists me as having iTunes 12.3.3.17. Wasn't sure, but I restarted my computer after each download anyway; no change.

Download the installer directly from Apple. I never use the Mac App Store for updates. After running the installer run the application from the applications folder. Sometimes an old copy of an application remains and continues to be used.
