Q: Recently changed my Apple ID and now apps won't update

I know this happens to a lot of people, and I've been searching the forums to find someone with the same problem who received help from the community, but I haven't found the post yet so I decided to make my own.

I had to change my apple ID because I got hacked. I didn't make a brand new one, I changed the email of the Apple ID I already had. Everything seems fine except now my apps won't update on my iPod touch. I know that it's because the apps aren't associated with the correct email anymore, and that's most likely the problem, but I'm unsure how to fix it.

I've made sure I have logged out of all of my accounts (Apple store/iCloud/account settings) on all of my apple products (2 Mac books and the iPod) and signed into all of the previously mentioned accounts with the new Apple ID. No progress, which makes sense because the apps are tied to the old Apple ID right?

So I deleted all my apps, thinking I could redownload them. But they are associated with my iCloud so it seems....so then I tried to disable my iCloud on the iPod so that the apps would show "get" instead of "download" in the Apple store (basically trying to make my iPod realize that it's a new Apple ID and that I want to get the apps for "the first time") but that didn't work either.

My last attempt was to delete an app on my Macbook, in hopes that "get" would appear instead of "download" but somehow that didn't work either. I even logged onto my iCloud with my new apple ID and none of the apps show in my iCloud. I am absolutely confused. Anyone have any insight, ideas, or suggestions as to how I could fix this other than going into an apple store or doing a factory reset on the iPod? Does anyone know if factory reset would even work?

Thanks!

iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 9.3.1

From the information your provided it appears that your created a new ID ranting than updating the email address for the original ID.

    Just what did you do?

    Dis you do this:

    Hi lllaass,

I'm really not trying to argue with you, but your poorly written, grammatically incorrect, pathetic troll of a response just so you can get more points and level up on Apple Communities is a waste of your time. I actually have a problem, and was hoping for a genuine response. You clearly don't understand my issue if what I wrote doesn't make sense to you, and since you didn't understand that first post, I doubt you'll understand this one. Now that I've wasted a few minutes of my own time (willingly), I kindly ask that you don't respond to this post unless you actually have something insightful to say. Thank you.

After realizing that you made some typos and were likely not trying to mess with me, I want to apologize for being aggressive rather quickly. I took "ranting" personal and realized that you meant "rather".

And now that I've made a fool of myself...

My answer to your original question is that I was on the phone with an Apple support personnel who told me to just change the email for my Apple ID, and that the data would all remain the same. Clearly they were wrong.

    Sorry for the typos.

Did you do what the link in my previous reply said?
