Q: I want to buy the new garageband.

I had garage band, have not used it for a year or two, now want it back. It appears that the new version will cost $4.99 which I don't mind, but I can't figure out how to buy and download it. Help??

What is the problem?  To purchase GarageBand 10 use this link, then click https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/garageband/id682658836?mt=12

Then click the button View in Mac App Store

 

You need at least OS X 10.10 to be able to install it.

 

If you have an older system, try to reinstall GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5. Do you still have system installer DVDs, that came with your Mac, or is GarageBand showing in your Purchases history, the fourth tab Purchases at the AppStore?

    You're still going to need to free up more disk space, though, especially since GarageBand has additional content to install after the app itself is installed. If you do not have enough free space for that, you may see a dialog like this:

    SUCCESS! Thanks Leonie and sjfx.

     

    Garage Band is working, the trick was to go to the app store from the applications folder. HOWEVER, now I have the next problem, how to get audio input on a mac (MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) that DOES NOT HAVE a 1/8 audio input port (has only headphone port).
