Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important having the correct pictures on your devices is to you! Based on what you stated, it seems you may be having issues with getting the correct pictures on your iPhone. I would start with these steps to narrow down and resolve your issue:
1. Connect your iPhone to iTunes, then unselect the option to “Sync Photos” and then click “Remove photos.” Then click the Apply button in iTunes to sync the changes.
2. Restart your iPhone and Mac as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the software running properly:

3. Open Photos and iTunes on your Mac, then connect your iPhone again and try to manually sync photos again from the Photos app on your Mac. Alternatively, you could use iCloud Photo Library to access your pictures on your devices.
