Q: Convert PAL timeline to NTSC

I shot a film in PAL and now I need to make an NTSC DVD master. Someone suggested just creating a new sequence and making it 23.98 FPS and then popping in the PAL sequence and rendering, but as expected, I got several black frames. I am using FCP 7.

Does someone have a better way to do this?

Thanks,

Molly

You can use Compressor to do standards conversion.

Pro: Compressor came with your copy of FCP. Con: it will take quite some time.

If the budget allows, look into hardware based conversion and find a production house that has a Teranex Standards Converter or similar.
