Q: Cannot send pictures via iMessage on iPod Touch or MacBook Air

Hello.

I have an iPod Touch with the latest iOS (9.3.2) and a MacBook Air with the latest OS X (10.11.5) and neither of them sends pictures – or any other attachments – via iMessage any more. I can receive pictures and send and receive texts, but sending a picture just fails every time. I noticed the problem on the iPod about a week ago, trying to share a picture from Safari. It never sent and I just thought that the file was too large. Then I tried sending a picture on the laptop several days later and it failed too. Today I finally had time to sit down and try to figure out what might be wrong, but have not found a solution.

This far I have

* logged out of Messages and FaceTime, restarted everything

* done a complete reset on the iPod

* deleted the files pertaining to iMessage from username/library/preferences (as was advised in an old thread on this forum)

* fiddled with about every setting I can imagine

Nothing has made any difference. I read somewhere that one should log out of iMessage on all devices before rebooting all of them. In addition to the ones mentioned above, I have an iPad Mini 2 (9.3.2) and an iPhone 5S (9.3.2), but messaging and FaceTime is disabled on the former and the latter has been switched off for over a month. I doubt that turning on the iPhone and logging out of anything would make much difference. At least I hope so, since the phone is currently in another country.

PS. I am not sure which Community to post this to, since the problem seems to be system-wide.

    Bump.

There seem to be tens of messages on this and other sites with people reporting the same issue. None of the ones I have read provide a solution to the problem. The Apple Support simply concluded that they must have an iMessage server issue and advised me to wait. I have waited, nothing has happened. Annoying.

Well, now the problem seems to have been sorted on the MacBook. I sent a PDF file and it went through fine. After that, I was able to send a JPG.

An attempt to send an Audio Message on the iPod failed. The adventure continues.

Since none of the other threads about this issue report any sort of resolution, I shall add this brief note to say that the problem just disappeared on its own. One day I tried sending a picture and it went through. Ever since, I have been able to send files over iMessage on all my devices. I have no idea what solved the problem, but solved it now is, thankfully.
