Thanks for coming to us in the Apple Support Communities for help. From your post, I understand that you want to redeem a gift card that you've received. I know it's nice to be able to easily make purchases with these, so I'm happy to provide some direction for this.
To start, make sure you know which type of gift card you have:
What type of gift card do I have?
If you have an Apple Store Gift Card, you will use it during checkout at the Apple Online Store.
If you have an iTunes Gift Card, you can redeem it a variety of different ways, all outlined here:

To determine how to use your gift card, you'll want to use the first link (What type of gift card do I have?) to determine what type of gift card you have.
Once you've determined that, you can use the other resources we provided to determine which is the appropriate method for redeeming that gift card.
