Q: app switcher not working in ios 9

I have an iphone 6s running ios 9.3.2 and noticed recently that the app switcher screen doesn't have any icons (when I hold on left and swipe right) so I need to double-click the home button to see all open apps. Can anyone help me figure out how to fix this? I've already turned my phone off/on and that didn't do anything.

Thanks -- that was quick! I was fiddling around with my settings and couldn't figure it out.

Yes, that's exactly how it's supposed to work.

If you turn Siri Suggestions on, it does not show you all the recently used apps. It just shows you apps Siri thinks you might want to use.

Double tapping the Home button shows you all your recently used apps. Those are not "open" apps, except in rare circumstances.

Thanks for extending the conversation with this information. That makes good sense because when I looked at spotlight search after toggling the switch on there were a few apps that were not open -- apparently suggestions. But the real question is that Siri suggested my gas buddy app and I can't figure out how she knew that my tank is almost on empty .

    Magic?

Siri will suggest apps based on location, time of day and frequency of use under those conditions.
