Q: Finder search 'FilesThisWeek' not working

I have a Finder search query labelled FilesThisWeek which returns zero result (no files). It searches for 2 criteria:

'Items matching text' is set to *

'Last opened date' is 'within last' x 'days'

That second criteria is normally set to 7 days, and returns no files. If I remove the number 7 and leave it blank it returns all my files (over 18,000). Any time criteria (1 day, 10 days, 1 week, etc) seems to kill the search.

I have re-indexed my hard disk.

Any suggestions?

I am running OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 on a MBP.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), SSD

Have you tried the following in just the Finder search window?

No, I hadn't tried that, but it gives a different answer.

If I use the pre-made Finder search "All My Files", then it has the files listed in groups: today, yesterday, last 7 days. In my case there are 1 + 3 + 34 = 37 files listed. Your suggestion only shows 6 files because it searches for 'Date modified' not 'Date last opened'.

Which still doesn't answer why the time restriction isn't working at all. I was hoping to use a longer time (about 3 weeks) and to add a restriction on file types.

    Thanks of the suggestion.
