Q: Crack in display due to electric shock

Hi,

Few days back i felt an electric shock on my iphone 6s+ while i was reading my emails and phone was connected to iphone charger. Due to this the phone slipped off my hand and caused a crack on my screen. It was having a Amzer tempered glass on it which didn't crack but there was a line below the tempered glass. I immediately went to the service center in my city and found customer support was closed for that day and was told it will open after two days. I waited for two days and the one crack on screen got increased to two more cracks.

After two days when i went to service center asking for solution they said it was not be covered under one year warranty and will be repaired as out of warranty. I repeatedly asked that it was caused due to electric shock and not intentionally. I was asked to pay INR15,000/- (US$ 224) for repair.

I raised the issue to Apple support through call/phone. They investigated the issue for two days and replied that there wasn't any evidence of electric shock and in apple products there couldn't be and wouldn't be ever any electric shock or static electric current. They said that service center is correct and I would have to bear the charges for repair as it would be covered under out of warranty and not under one year warranty.I repeatedly told them that I felt the shock and it was there but they did not believe me.

Request you to please advise what should I do as tomorrow if same thing happens again and while using/ speaking with someone if I again feel the shock/ static current and that causes any damage to my ears/brain or my body then who would be held responsible for this.

Please advise whom should I contact in this issue as service center is not helping me here. My case number is ********.

Sorry, but if Apple Support examined the phone and found no hints for an electric damage, you'll have to believe them. A direct impact from the voltage of your wall outlet would probably have damaged the electric parts of the phone and made it unusable.

I have 4 more apple iphones with us - 1 iphone 6S with me and 1-1 iphone with my wife and sister. All uses same power supply to charge their phone but they never came across such issue.

There wasn't any power supply issue, apple said that they didn't find any indication of electric shock however I say that I felt that and I think everybody know how a electric shock feels like.

Also surprisingly while discussing the issue with Service center executive He said that apple sells refurbished phones in India however what I know as per government norms, selling refurbished phones are not allowed in India- Shocking.
