Q: My ipod was stolen. I want to lock it so noone can use it. Can anyone help?

My ipod touch was stolen. I do not have internet turned on to it so I cannot lock it. I thought there was a way to lock it so the thief couldn't use it. Can anyone help?

Did you enable Find My iPhone on the iPod Touch before it was stolen?

    https://www.apple.com/icloud/find-my-iphone.html

You cannot set up that after it is lost but if it was already active you can enable the missing mode & hope that it goes online. It will report it's location or lock if you enable those in the Find my iPhone app (or at iCloud.com).

If the activation lock was enabled via 'Find my iPhone' the device will be locked to your Apple ID & they need your password to use it…

Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support

Obviously the device need to talk to Apple's servers to know that it is 'lost', so it may take a while if the internet is deactivated and the device is locked with a password.

    Good luck.

Since you said "I do not have internet turned on to it so I cannot lock it."

The only way to lock it is to physically find it. You have to find it the old fashioned way, like if you lost a sock

Yes you have too get on your computer and get on icloud and put in your

apple id and password and find your ipod device that's on there and follow

that steps too lock it etc.

That depends – if the device was not passcode protected or if notification centre had the wifi toggle active it could possible for someone to activate wifi. If known networks are in range it can go into locked/ lost mode.

I agree it is unlikely but it really depends on how the device was configured & who finds, buys or stole it etc
