My iPad will not charge normally.  I tried different cables and chargers.  I connected the iPad to iTunes and did a DFU reset.  After a few hours the iPad finished reloading all new software and reloaded apps, it also had recharged the battery however the problem remains, I still cannot charge the iPad normally.  Any help out there?

There are very few things that prevent an iPad from charging. Some of those (different charger plugged into a good wall outlet, different cable) you have tried already. Others are:

    1. Dirt, lint or fuzz in the charging port of the charger or iPad. Check and carefully clean if necessary.

    2. Software failure. Reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

    3. Hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have a technician examine your device. Or contact Apple Support.

Ralph I tried all of your suggestions the DFU reset was the only thing that got close.  I am hoping someone out there has a better answer.

I want to comment on #2, as I recently had this experience, and I was a little surprised by the solution.  a couple of days ago, i noticed that my iPad Air 2 was draining it's battery, despite being plugged in.  I changed outlets, and changed charger cables, and no charging icon displayed (this, sadly after paying $25 for a replacement cable).

I then simply did a power down, and restarted the iPad, and, lo and behold, it charged successfully.  I didn't even have to go to the reset option.

Sadly, this may not help Ralph, but hope it helps others, and that you won't have to pay for a new charging cable.
