Q: impossible to add music to ipod touch

Recently it has become impossible for me to add music to my ipod. I manually manage the music on my ipod and when dragging tunes over to the ipod the "preparing update" status takes unusually long, after which the songs are not added but appear greyed out with circles next to them, unavailable on the ipod.

I tried updating both ipod and itunes software in hopes of ending the problem, however it only added a new one, and now songs sometimes get deleted from the ipod, with exclamation marks appearing next to them. It usually seems to happen when the ipod is plugged in and I play a song on the ipod through itunes, and suddenly it, and often many others down the list, get the "!" mark and dissapear from my ipod. I've even had it happen with songs listened to on the ipod just minutes before.

Also, often when deleting music from my ipod via itunes they remain on the ipod, and when deleting songs from the ipod via the menus on it, they still appear when viewing the ipod in itunes. So usually songs have to be deleted both places to properly disappear.

I wonder if anyone else have had similar problems, and perhaps have found a solution?

iPod touch, iOS 9.3.2

    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Last, restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Actually had this problem before and doing a backup only relieves it for a while until it comes back.

Is it possible to have iTunes or some other program remember the exact music selection on the ipod, so that i can get back to my exact ipod library after a factory reset? (trimming several hundred gigs of music down to a selection for the ipod is an immense task, and i'd like to continue where i left off. also, all the music is in my current itunes library, which might make it easier)

On another note, i tried using a third party program (mediamonkey) for adding music to the iPod and that worked just fine and swift. Also, everything else on the iPod runs just fine (except for adding music through itunes and when songs get deleted when played on the ipod through itunes). So it seems the problem is a software/communication problem between itunes and the ipod, perhaps?

Lastly, the music i added though a third party program worked fine on the ipod but most of it was deleted when i viewed my ipod in itunes. Does itunes have a built in function to delete music on ipods that it does not recognise or considers potentially pirated? It also deletes music i've added through itunes.

Hey, I too wanna know if it's possible to make a copy of the selection/library on an ipod, so that you can get back to the same selection of imported music on your ipod after a factory reset (having similar problems). Does anyone know?
