Q: Make watch face easier to see

I'm thinking of buying an Apple Watch but would like to know if it's possible to make the data on the watch easier to see? Can you zoom? If so, where is the setting?

You can turn on Zoom in the Watch app on the iPhone by going to Watch > General > Accessibility > Zoom = ON. You can also increase text size in the app.

    Hi Terry

Apple Watch offers a number of options for making text easier to read, including:

    • Bold text
      • Displays heavier text by using boldface type as standard.
      • To enable:
        • On the watch: Home screen > Settings > Brightness & Text Size - turn on Bold Text.
        • On your iPhone, in the Watch app: My Watch > Brightness & Text Size.

    • Text size
      • Affects text in areas of Apple Watch that support Dynamic Type, including within Messages, Mail and Settings.
      • To adjust:
        • On the watch: Home Screen > Settings > Brightness & Text Size > Text Size (turn the Digital Crown or tap the text size buttons).
        • On your iPhone, in the Watch app: My Watch > Brightness & Text Size.

    • Zoom
      • Magnifies screen content by up to 15x. Zoom in and out, then move around with zoom-specific gestures.
      • To enable:
        • On the watch: Home screen > Settings > General  > Accessibility - turn on Zoom.
        • Or, if the Accessibility Shortcut has been enabled for Zoom, triple-click the Digital Crown.
        • On your iPhone, in the Watch app: My Watch > General > Accessibility > Zoom > turn on.

    • VoiceOver
      • Your watch speaks each item as you move your finger around the screen (requires VoiceOver-specific gestures to interact with the watch). VoiceOver can also be used when setting up your watch.
      • To enable (best done initially via the Watch app):
        • On your iPhone, in the Watch app: My Watch > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver > turn off Screen Curtain (at the bottom of the screen), then turn on VoiceOver.
        • On the watch: Home screen > Settings > General  > Accessibility > VoiceOver > turn on VoiceOver.
        • Or, if the Accessibility Shortcut has been enabled for VoiceOver, triple-click the Digital Crown.

    • Reduce Transparency
      • Increases screen contrast by reducing the transparency of the background that sits behind some elements (for example: notification alerts, Siri and Glances).
      • To enable:
        • On your iPhone, in the Watch app: My Watch > General > Accessibility > turn on Reduce Transparency.

    • On/Off Labels
      • Makes it easier to see the status of settings by adding an additional label to on/off switches.
      • To enable:
        • On the watch: Home screen > Settings > General  > Accessibility > turn on On/Off Labels.
        • On your iPhone, in the Watch app: My Watch > General > Accessibility > turn on On/Off Labels.
