Jul 13, 2016 10:54 PM in response to Ali-nawazby Kappy,It is OK, but you really should upgrade. Tap Settings > General > Software Update to get started. I would be sure you first do a computer backup using iTunes unless you have nothing you need to restore. The currently installed system and files will be restored automatically after the installation is completed.

Jul 14, 2016 5:29 PM in response to Ali-nawazby Bakhtina,Why I believe you should always update :
1. Apple is part of a never-ending race with hackers. The hackers try to make it so if they steal an iPhone or find a lost iPhone, they can gain access to the information saved in its internal memory. Apple makes sure this is impossible by regularly upgrading the security of their devices. If you stop updating your device, you stop running with Apple, and eventually the hackers will catch up to you.
2. Some apps and features will require the lastest version of iOS. iOS 8 didn't have NightShift, etc.

Jul 14, 2016 6:15 PM in response to Ali-nawazby Courcoul,The phone will be a lot more secure and protected with 9.3.2 than with 8. Only reason that may cause a slowdown that I can think of is lack of free space. You haven't indicated its size but if feasible try to maintain 8-10 GB free and you should be fine.
I most emphatically recommend you do the update to 9 using iTunes on a computer (Mac preferred). The probability of success is virtually guaranteed at first try and you will get a backup just in case.
Welcome back, Prof! You were missed, great to have you back on the saddle!!
