Q: If I don't want to use my Airport Extreme as a router, how do I hook it up as a storage device?

I recently installed Eero as my wifi routing device.  It is excellent.  Now I don't want to use my Airport Extreme as my router but would like to continue to use it as my backup storage device.  Is this possible and how do I hook it up.

Time Machine, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Connect the Extreme directly to one of the Ethernet ports on the Eero. The Extreme will also need to be reconfigured as a bridge.

Then, you have two basic choices:

    1. Configure the Extreme in a roaming network configuration with the Eero, or
    2. Disable the Extreme's Wi-Fi radios.

With either option, you could continue to use the Extreme as a file server.
