Q: New PC doesn't recognize 2ndGen iPod Nano

Hello.

I got a new computer and now find that my iPod 2gNano doesn't work properly.  Although it shows up as F/ the only thing I can do is play songs from it.  I can't get any of the music to transfer from iTunes to the iPod.  If I try to 'add to device', nothing happens.  Sync, et al functions are greyed out as well.

I'm starting from scratch since I lost all my previous files when my previous PC died.  The files I'm wanting to add were not purchased from iTunes if that makes a difference.  Drivers, program, etc show up to date.

iPod nano, Windows 10

    Hello there, RobertRewd!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities!  It sounds like you are having an issue getting your iTiunes to recognize your iPod. I know how important it is to be sure your can sync your device to iTunes as well. You might want to check out this article that talks about If iTunes doesn‘t recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

If those steps don't resolve the issue, it might be best to Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later. This will allow you to be sure there is not a software issue with the iTunes installation causing the issue. Just be sure you remove the Apple Software in the order listed in the article:

Remove iTunes and its related components from the Control Panel

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

    1. iTunes
    2. Apple Software Update
    3. Apple Mobile Device Support
    4. Bonjour
    5. Apple Application Support 32-bit
    6. Apple Application Support 64-bit

On some systems, iTunes might install two versions of Apple Application Support. This is expected. If both are present, be sure to uninstall both versions.

Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall some of them. Doing so might have unintended effects. After you uninstall a component, you might be prompted to restart your computer. Wait to restart your computer until you're finished removing all of the components.

    Cheers!
