Q: getting an echo (repeat) when i record

Imac 2.66 Ghz intel core duo

4 gb memory

yosemite 10.10.5 os

just downloaded the new upgrade for logic 10.2.4

has been loading slow and acting weird

just tried to record an audio track but there is an echo or repeat when I played my instrument as if I had an active echo delay plug-in

there are no plug-ins active on that track

Could it be because I need to upgrade to El Capitan?

iMac, Mac OS 8.6 or Earlier

Isn't this just feedback? Mute your speakers & retest or connect headphones & record another test.

I suspect you have something misconfigured, you should not have live sound played when near a microphone that is recording unless I am misunderstanding something?

did all that. No mikes connected. Checked all busses turned off all related effects. Deleted track and created a new one same result

iMac has a built in mic. Aren't audio track recordings from an external source? What is your input that you are recording? Can you hear yourself?

Apologies, I thought this looked like a simple issue but if it isn't you will need someone with more Logic knowledge.
