Q: MacbookPro has mind of its own
Wife has a 2011 MacbookPro. Uses it primarily for web surfing (Facebook). Has mentioned to me a number of times that while surfing, different pages seem to jut pop up or it opens a link when she does not choose that link. I though she was imagining this, then I was using it on vacation to move some pictures around on her Facebook page and I found the same thing happening to me. As I hovered over the trackpad, it was as if the Macbook sensed that I had planned to choose a link and that link would open, even though I touched nothing. This AM, my wife was in the middle of reading a friend's post and as she was scrolling up to finish, another page opened. Any ideas what would cause something like this to happen or what I should do (other than buy a new macbook) to help solve the problem?

Might be a trackpad issue. And given the age of that MBP, this could be caused by a swollen battery. What status (cycle count/condition) does the battery show? Determining battery cycle count for Mac notebooks - Apple Support
