Q: Carplay shows offline

I have a 2017 Ford Fusion with Sync 3 and Apple Carplay support.  I have an iPhone 6s.  Everything functions great with the exception of Apple Music.  The For You and Radio tabs on the screen to my car show that I am currently offline and thus no content shows on those tabs.  And yet for some reason, the new tab shows content.  I guess I'm online for new stuff but I can't access radio without grabbing my phone and doing it from there.

Any thoughts out there are to why this is?  Anyone experiencing the same thing?  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks to all.

    Hello Just_Sean,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having issues with CarPlay is not what you expect. The following article will be helpful in troubleshooting your Apple Music issue while using CarPlay, as it contains these helpful steps:

    1. Make sure that Siri is turned on.
    2. Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
    3. If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
    4. Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure the cable is certified.
    5. Update to the latest version of iOS.
    6. Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.

Set up CarPlay to use with your iPhone

    Cheers!

    Thank you for the reply.

    1. Siri is on

    2. Restarted phone and car.  Results are the same.  Everything is okay except For You and Radio portions of Apple Music

3/4. Tried a different port and a different cable.  No difference.

    5. On latest iOS

    6. Car has the latest firmware update.  Manual has me referred to Apple since this is a Carplay issue, not a Sync issue

Any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.  Willing to give anything a shot.  Thank you for any help you can provide.

Awesome, thanks for confirming that info. Since those steps didn’t resolve your issue with CarPlay, you may need to contact AppleCare support, as they have more tools and resources to investigate your specific situation.
