App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

Jul 15, 2016 5:53 PM in response to MillionYearsOldby X1962X,I have an iPod touch 4G, I installed find my friends app with no issues.
It asked me if I wanted to install the last compatible version? I taped yes and, it installed.
You may need to do a hard restart, then try again.
