Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important getting your MacBook working properly again is to you! If I understand correctly, you are unable to start up your MacBook as expected, and you just get a black screen with a spinning ball. I would suggest these steps to resolve this issue:
1. Use Safe Mode to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks, delete system cache files, verifies your startup disk, and attempts to repair directory issues if needed. If you're able to successfully start up into Safe Mode, then try restarting normally.Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up
Limited graphics performance in OS X recovery or safe mode
2. If Safe Mode doesn’t resolve your issue, then start up into OS X Recovery Mode and run First Aid in the Disk Utility application. If you're able to finish the First Aid without errors or issues repaired successfully, then restart your MacBook.Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
Cheers!
