Q: Footage from iPod touch - sound volume of .mov clips

Hi,

When I use footage from an iPod touch, the sound volume of .mov clips is too low, even if I turn it as loud as possible in Final Cut. How can I get it louder?

Thanks!

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Unfortunately, there's really not much you can do. You could make a new project and put just the clips that need to be louder in there, then turn up the volume as loud as it goes, then export that as a video, then import that new video back into your regular project (except it's loud this time) and you can turn up the volume to the max again. Hopefully that should help. However, the quality may be reduced a little.

Also, you could open up Audio Enhancement in the Inspector, choose Loudness and adjust the slider to see whether the results are satisfactory. Or you might apply the Gain effect (in Levels).

    Good luck.

Yes, and therefore I tried the other solution.

This works (combination of both sliders).

Or you might apply the Gain effect (in Levels).

I couldn't find it. Where is it, please?

1- Set levels to 0db (normal).

2- Add the Gain audio effect.

3- Boost the additional gain a tiny bit at a time, as the Gain effect is very powerful.

Go to the Effects Browser, scroll down to the Audio effects.  In the Levels collection.

Gain? It's in the Audio effects browser > Levels group.

Thanks.  It works!  Just one question:

Why do the levels (I assume you mean the normal clip volume) have to be at 0db in the beginning?
