Q: Converting text to table in Pages v5

Sad to say, Apple is going downhill, software-wise; backwards instead of forward.  Pages used to be a brilliant application, and in my opinion superior to Word. Instead of getting better, Pages is getting worse. Case in point: you used to be able to convert text to a table, And vice versa. Now you can't. People have complained about this, but no acknowledgments, no answers, no results. They don't seem to care—a far cry from the Steve Jobs Apple I grew to love.
