Jul 17, 2016 1:26 PM in response to Eric Rootby Snagel1,none of this works. I can not start in safe mode, i can not start up from another disc, I can not start up from any external sorce. I tried doing the single user mode, when I type in the fsck -fy and hit return if goes through four of the five steps then the computer turns off. I have tried this twice with the same result.

Jul 17, 2016 1:43 PM in response to BDAquaby Snagel1,Not so far, tried that, the apple icon came like a normal start up and the progress bar went about 2/3 of the way pretty quickly but it has been 10 min and it hasn't finished yet. Trying to start in safe mode I had a similar issue and when the progress bar got to the end the computer shut down.

Jul 18, 2016 4:48 PM in response to Snagel1by Eric Root,★HelpfulIf your computer came with DVDs, can you boot from them? If the computer didn't come with DVDs, try Internet Recovery (command - option/alt - R). Internet Recovery can take a very long time to boot. If either of those work, run Disk Utility Repair Disk.

Jul 18, 2016 7:44 PM in response to Snagel1by Eric Root,If you live near an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment to have the computer tested. Supposedly there is no charge for testing. Use 2nd link if not near an Apple Store or aren’t in the US. Hardware Repair - Keeping Confidential Data Safe
