Q: Bootcamp - Windows broke all of the sudden (your pc did not start correctly)

As the title says, I turned off my Mac one evening and booted into Windows and was met with a blue screen, “your pc did not start correctly” which gave me the option to try and repair Windows or simply restart, I chose the latter and now that screen won’t even show up to give me the option to repair anything. It’s difficult to even pinpoint a cause for this problem; Windows has been working fine for the past week. I shut it down like I normally would, and now this.

I can say one thing though, right before it happened as Windows was booting up I was trying to get into BIOS mode to enable integrated audio (I found later there is no BIOS for bootcamp). I was hitting the F10 key, but I doubt this has anything to do with what happened?

So, what’s going on?

I’m running a MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012 OS X 10.9.5 and dual boot Windows 10. I had installed all the latest updates and drivers for Windows and all my software; everything was fine up until recently.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Did you get an error code on the BSoD?

I haven't been able to reproduce the effect; every time I boot up Windows I get the Windows icon, then the spinning dots, and then the screen goes black. I've waited to see if that screen pops back up for at least 20 minutes, nothing.

Although, I'm pretty sure this is the message I received?

Try connecting the power adapter to see if the screen brightness changes. If it is connected, try without the power adapter. There are two different brightness settings.

If W10 has boot issues after three attempts, it should show you the recovery console, where you can select Advanced Options and try Safe Mode without Networking.

Aha! Sure enough, 3 attempts and then recovery mode. I looked through the advanced options, but Windows could not diagnose the problem nor could I use System Restore. However, I can manage to boot into safe mode now, and that's good right?

Also, I managed to look at the log file in the Windows start up folder, would that help?
