Q: Using "mark up" of a photo in my emails

I have been having great fun with "mark up" in El Cap all of a sudden now within a short time frame - MARK UP IS MISSING as a choice  to "well...mark up" my photos" with information and arrow etc. Any idea what is going on with this new program of El Caps? Hate that "batch change is 'M.I.A.' long time now. Hope that will come back with Sierra.

    Your post is confusing

Where are you expecting to see "Mark up"

It is not a feature of iPhoto where you posted

And it is not a feature of the new Photos program

It is a feature of TextEdit - instructions on use from Text Edit help are

    Annotate images with Markup

If you add an image to your document, you can use Markup to add shapes, text, and callouts to it within TextEdit. You can even draw on your image using your trackpad.

    Open TextEdit for me

    1. Move your pointer over an image, click the Markup pop-up menu , then choose Markup.
    2. Select a tool to annotate your image:To crop an image, move your pointer near the edge of the image, then drag the blue handles to adjust the size of the cropping window. To move the cropping window, move your pointer to the edge of the image and between the blue handles, then drag the window where you want it.
      • Sketch : Sketch with a single stroke. If your sketch is recognized as a standard shape, it’s replaced by that shape; to use your sketch instead, choose it from the palette that’s shown.
      • Draw : Draw with your finger. (This tool appears only on computers with a Force Touch trackpad.) Press more firmly on the trackpad to draw with a heavier, darker line.
      • Shapes : Choose a shape to add to your image, then drag the blue handles to resize the shape.
        • Zoom a portion of an image: Click the Loupe tool , then drag it where you want. To increase or decrease the zoom, drag the green handle; drag the blue handle to change the lens size.
        • Highlight a portion of an image: Click the Highlight tool , then drag it where you want it. To resize it, use the blue handles.
        • Change line style or color: Select the shape, then click the Shape Style button or the Border Color button .
        • Change the fill color: Select the shape, then click the Fill Color button .
        • Add text to a shape or line: Type text while the shape (or line) is selected.
        • Rotate shapes: Rotate selected shapes with two fingers.
      • Text : Add a text box to your image, then click it to type text. To change the font or font style of text in the selected text box or shape, click the Text Style button . You can also make text bold, italic, or underline, and change the alignment.
      • Sign : Add a signature to your image. Click the signature you want to use, then drag it where you want. To resize it, use the blue handles. Signatures you create in other apps that use Markup, such as Preview, are listed.
        • Create a signature using your trackpad: Click Trackpad, click the text, sign your name using your finger, then click Done. If you don’t like the results, click Clear and try again. On a Force Touch trackpad, you can press your finger more firmly to sign with a heavier, darker line.
        • Create a signature using the built-in camera on your Mac: Click Camera. Hold your signature (on white paper) facing the camera so that your signature is level with the blue line in the window. When your signature appears in the window, click Done. If you don’t like the results, click Clear and try again.
    3. Click Done.

And batch change is a feature of both iPhoto and Photos

Occasionally you may need to register the launch database again, if the MarkUp Extension is missing from the Share Actions menu in Mail or other applications.

See this support document:    If Share options or Markup is missing after upgrading to OS X Yosemite or El Capitan - Apple Support

Follow these steps if the issue occured immediately after upgrading to Yosemite or El Capitan.

    1. Open the Terminal app, which is in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.
    2. Type this command in Terminal:

    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -seed

    1. Press Return and wait for the Terminal prompt—which ends in $—to reappear. It may take a few minutes.
    2. Quit Terminal.

You should now see the expected Share and Markup features. If not, go to Apple menu > System Preferences, click Extensions, and make sure that the Markup and sharing features are turned on in the Actions and Share Menu sections.

Note: all parts of the Terminal command need to be pasted as a single line, even if the  Editor here should insert line break.  The only space characters are before  "-kill" and "-seed".

Thank you. You were right on my problem in fixing it - I don't know why "Mark Up" of photos I often attach to some of my emails, drops out. I forgot about where to find "mark up" and re-instate it. Appreciate  your response.

I spoke with the " Lead Creative" in my local store. He does think/ hope as I do that "BATCH CHANGE" comes back with the new OS, "sierra" this fall.

    again

And batch change is a feature of both iPhoto and Photos

In Photos to batch change time/date select the photos and use the adjust date/time command - (image menu )

To batch change keywords, location, descriptions, etc select the photos and get info - enter the new info and it will be applied to all selected photos
